Position Title: applications engineer

Summary

Our Applications Engineers are providing top tier support to our customers via, phone, email and in person when
required. They are responsible for taking an active role on any technical challenge our customers are facing. The
Applications Engineer is responsible for applications engineering which may include designing, defining,
implementing system requirements, analyzing and/or testing company products. Conduct feasibility test and work
on process development projects to meet customer specifications/ requirements.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and
responsibilities as management may deem from time to time.
• Product development for existing as well as new customers
• Defining customer specification in collaboration with quality engineer and process engineer
• Defining test methods to confirming product quality and meeting customer expectations
• On site trial ownership in collaboration with production and quality team
• Qualify customer needs and possible solutions
• Ability to generate accurate and detailed case information
• Utilizing existing systems, such as MES, SAP, Excel and others to document trial process as well as
product parameters
• Establish and execute efficient trial process, involving all stakeholders
• Ability to troubleshoot a system through deductive reasoning
• Ability to be courteous and positive when speaking to customers
• Ability to handle the demands of a visit to a customer site for troubleshooting purposes
• Ability to use high level tools to diagnose network challenges (MES, SAP, Mini-Tab etc.)
• Ability to generate customer facing documentation
• Excellent presentation and teaching skills
• Ability to act as a mentor to other employees to promote their growth
• Willingness to travel to customer and/or vendor sites. At times there may be minimal notice beforehand.

Education and /or Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience, or equivalent industry experience
• Comprehensive network skills set, including the ability to troubleshoot data networks
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to take instruction and implement effectively
• Working knowledge of computers (Windows, Microsoft Office)
• Industry certification (CTS or otherwise)

 

Language Skills

English, Spanish preferred but not required

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and
decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. A basic understanding
of statistics.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
form.
