Job Summary:

Our client is a materials supplier specializing in the development of electronic materials, such as adhesive tapes, foams, thermal interface materials, and EMI materials. With sales offices and R&D centers spanning the globe, they are committed to work in collaboration with their customers to develop and manufacture new and advanced engineered materials across a wide range of markets.

They have been providing innovative and customized solutions to global consumer electronic leaders around globe and is expanding to semiconductor and automotive electrification markets. They also have had tremendous growth in past years, which enables them to aggressively invest and expand their global footprint.

They are a team of passionate individuals who are dedicated to empowering their customers to make better and more cost-effective products. They are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to lead product development and commercialization on adhesive and tape products.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

• Leads the technical development and commercialization of pressure sensitive adhesive and structure adhesive product development
• Manages and coach a team of developers with our global lab
• Translates customer and market feedback into technical specifications and develops product formulations and applicable data packages for specific customers and general market.
• Technology development on adhesive and its applications, generates intellectual property in the form of patents, trade secrets, and formulation know how.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields. A minimum of 3 years of work experience in product development; M.S. Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related fields, and 5 years in product development.
• Other equivalents are a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry Materials Science, or related fields with a minimum of 10 years of product development-related experience.
• Broad based knowledge of polymer science, including polymer chemistry, resin curing system, material formulation and engineering, rheology, bulk and adhesive mechanics of soft materials. Experience in heat activated adhesive tape would be a plus.
• Ability to take on multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced and customer oriented environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Chinese speaking is required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Candidate will be based in the US, and take multiple trips to the China R&D center (25-50% of the time)
