We are conducting a search for our client, who is an industry-leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality packaging and specialty material products. They are currently expanding their operations and capabilities to serve their growing business. Your experience should include Procurement or Supply Chain responsibilities within the chemicals, adhesives, tapes, labels, or any packaging materials. This opportunity is based in Cleveland area and has an income level in the $90k’S – $100K plus range.

 

Our client offers products which are critical to the optimal performance in food & beverage packaging, automotive, aerospace, moving & storage, and industrial applications for today and tomorrow. Through excellence in products and our dedicated, committed, and cohesive teams, this independent private equity backed manufacturer/ distributor will continue its legacy of application innovation and excellence of customer service across the United States. Annual revenues for 2024 are forecasted to be approximately $88 million.

The opportunity as a Procurement Manager will be based in the Greater Cleveland area. The role mainly will focus on the Packaging Division, including pressure sensitive tapes, stretch film, and other packaging products.

 

Our client is in need of an experienced Procurement Manager to develop and execute strategies for the company that will improve profitability for the Packaging Division. The role requires that supplier strategies are implemented to ensure the business receives raw materials or purchased finished goods that meet our customer’s requirements at the best possible price, service and quality. The role requires someone who is well-versed in all aspects of the supply chain and is an effective negotiator.

 

 

key responsibilities:

 

Provide expertise and support with data mining, analysis, and reporting.

Develop and implement cost savings projects and financial forecasting.

Lead cyclical sourcing events, as well as mid-contract negotiations, as needed.

Provide vendor and Subcontract sourcing and pricing for Requests for Quotes (RFQ’s), as requested.

Support in developing and delivering against the long-term procurement strategy.

Effectively oversee an inventory stocking program that will enable the company to provide increased supply security along with shorter lead-times to our customers.

Communicate with suppliers to address and improve performance concerns.

Ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives of the supply chain department.

Identify problems with the supply of purchased finished goods or raw materials that would negatively impact of ability to properly serve our customers. Work for problem identification to effective solutions.

Prepare or review bid forms and prepare bid deposits.

Initiate and lead continuous improvement efforts to improve cost of goods.

Contact vendors to solicit bids for purchases of supplies and equipment.

Consult with internal customers to resolve supplier performance issues.

Manage relationships with key large suppliers for multiple programs.

Develop policies and procedures for the operation of procurement activities.

Serve as a mentor for other individual contributors on the team.

Collaborate with cross functional teams to support sales and finance team in revenue attainment.

Desire to develop to support other areas of the business, namely the Specialty Materials business.

Support the attainment of KPIs related to supply chain and purchasing.

 

 

Qualifications:

The Procurement Manager will require a proven background and experience in a manufacturing environment.

Bachelor’s or Graduate’s Degree in business, supply chain, or equivalent experience desired , but not mandatory.

Background in chemicals, adhesives, tapes, labels, or specialty materials would be a plus.

Experience with Microsoft products, SQL, spreadsheets, and enterprise resource planning.

A leader and critical thinker with an eye for continuous improvement.

Demonstrated business acumen and decision-making skills.

Fluent in statistics, spreadsheets, root cause analysis, and supply chain.

Skilled at time management and negotiation.

Would like related experience in a manufacturing setting.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative, customer-centric, and team-based work environment.

 

 

Reporting Lines:

The position will report to the Director of Purchasing and Supply chain.

You will also directly manage a Purchasing Associate.
