Primary Responsibility:

The company specializes in graphic, automotive and surface protection film. We are looking for an experienced chemist who can develop new cost-effective PSA tapes for the automotive, HVAC, industrial, and protective film markets in a timely fashion.


Industrial and Educational Background:
    • Minimum BS degree in chemistry, chem. engineering, polymer, or material science.
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in coatings, adhesives, tape, label, or flexible web processing.
    • Formulation and design work using statistical tools to establish product validity and reproduce-ability. This position will place a heavy emphasis on formulating adhesive and tape solutions to meet customer/market product needs.


General Preferred Requirements:
  • Laboratory experience including designing, testing, and/or evaluation of products.
  • FTIR/analytical chemistry experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with production and trial coating required.
  • Experience with one or more of the following coating chemistries preferred:
    • Water-based acrylic or rubber pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA’s)
    • Solvent-based acrylic or rubber PSA’s preferred.
    • Solvent or water-based release coatings
  • Experience with the following polymeric substrates like Polyethylene, Polypropylene (PP), Polyester (PET).
  • Experience with transfer coating solvent PSAs using siliconized paper release liners onto a variety of HVAC foil-based substrates.
  • The ability to write succinctly and present data in a clear, understandable manner. Communication skills are paramount to the success of this position.


Principal Responsibilities:
  • Perform lab bench work and develop new PSA tapes for automotive, HVAC, industrial, and protective film markets.
  • Prepare project feasibility, cost and timeline documents required for incoming project requests.
  • Coordinate scale-up activities of final design, including establishment of raw material, process, and product specifications.
  • Modify existing products to improve performance and/or reduce costs.
  • Aid Marketing personnel as requested; answer technical questions and solve problems, as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers as well as with manufacturing, marketing, and sales personnel.
  • Attend trade shows to develop technical acumen and develop/strengthen raw material supplier relationships.
