Summary

The Sales & Marketing Director position reports directly to the VP / COO and is part of the Core Executive Leadership Team. This position and our manufacturing facility are located in Southern Wisconsin. The Sales & Marketing Director is a hands-on position with a direct staff of Inside Sales Representatives as well as National/Regional Sales Representatives.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities,
as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Determines and manages the Annual Sales Budget, Quarterly Sales Forecast, and Monthly Sales Rep Territory Review processes designed to drive sustained profitable growth.

Reviews and analyzes existing Sales Performance Reports based on volume and margins, by product, customer, sales territory, and individual quotes (ACTUAL vs BUDGET vs LAST YEAR) to develop Sales Team objectives.

Actively participates on executive leadership team, provides insight and reporting on trends, forecasts, company performance, obstacles, and new opportunities.

Plans and oversees areas of strategic planning and market development through marketing promotions, marketing samples, and advertising activities that include print, online, electronic media, and direct mail.

Develops and recommends active product offerings, customer pricing, product margins, sales techniques, and marketing activities based on competitive market intelligence, marketing strategy, competitor’s strengths and weaknesses, and by identifying consumer requirements.

Directs and recommends R&D new product development initiatives and R&D existing product design improvements by identifying new market opportunities and methods for market penetration. Implements Sales Team training programs for new products and assists in lead generation.

Directs and participates in developing, training, and motivating an effective Sales Team through job descriptions, performance goals, and performance evaluations.

Supports Sales Reps by enhancing relationships and closing sales negotiations with major customers. In addition, support Sales Reps in-house customer visit activities by promoting our products and Company.

Directs and manages all activities pertaining to the House Accounts Territory, along with delegating internal responsibilities to the Inside Sales Team.

Responsible for broker development and / or expanding existing broker network. Develops and implements effective broker / distributor recruitment strategy. Creates awareness and demand for the company products and services. Manages broker pricing, margins, commission expectations, and earnings.

Coordinates matters of mutual concern with other departments such as R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Finance. Some examples are SQF certification, new product engineering, quality complaints, aged inventory disposition, price increases, Departmental Spending Budget, Product Specification Data Sheets, customer collections, etc.

Establishes and maintains relationships with trade associations, tradeshows, industry influencers and key strategic partners to promote sustained profitable growth of our products.

Performs other work-related duties as required or assigned.

Education and Experience

The position requires education or work history generally equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college with
courses in sales, marketing, or business administration. In addition, this position requires five or more years of sales and
marketing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. The position requires previous managerial experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical specifications and
procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence is necessary. Must be able
to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers.

Mathematical Skills

This position requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions, and
percentages. Statistical problem solving skills to forecast future sales potential will be essential.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, such
as Excel, Word, and Outlook. It is beneficial to be familiar with some form of a Customer Relationship Management
software system.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The incumbent must be able to
interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete
variables.

Other Qualifications

Must have strong organization and planning skills, problem-solving skills, demonstrated ability to work independently, be a
self-starter, and exercise sound judgment. Incumbent must be able to work effectively with senior-level executives and
staff in a hands-on working environment.

The position offers a base salary commensurate with experience, annual bonus 10-15%, and other excellent company benefits including 401k match.
