Written by Angelo Giallombardo, he shares a passage from his book that elaborates on ideas of what a candidate can do to stand out in today’s job market.
Another informative passage from my best-selling book last year, “TALENT DOESN’T GROW ON TREES: How to Hire Your Next Superstar” .
Today’s passage is from Chapter 1: It’s Not My Fault: Perceptions of a Job Seeker

How to Stand Out
There are various ways to stand out from the crowd of other job applicants. These include:
· Taking the aggressive approach of calling the hiring manager at the company directly. This approach will only work if you can find the correct hiring manager for the opportunity that is open at the company. It will also work only if, once they are on the phone, you can immediately tell them why you’d be a stellar candidate for their company.
· Creating a short and articulate video presentation that highlights your experience as it pertains to the job opening.
· Introducing yourself, in person, to the hiring manager at a trade show or industry conference.
· Modifying your online profiles and highlighting who you are with a video presentation, resume, and specific details showing your professionalism and humility.
These are a few of the ways you can differentiate yourself from the rest of the job applicants, but it is certainly not a comprehensive list.
At the beginning of the hiring process, the job seeker must capture the attention of the hiring managers to get an opportunity to secure the job they covet.
Much like Michael, you must be able to differentiate yourself from others in the market. When done properly, you set yourself up for success in landing your next job.

Once again, I hope this helps whomever needs to read this right now.
I realize this isn’t a one size fits all approach in the passage above but it does give some insight into how to stand out to hiring managers if you are a job seeker.
We all know, every little bit helps, but it only helps if you take massive action and make it happen.
Best of luck and good fortune to you!!!
